Incident Summary:
09/05/2015: Assailants attacked a security checkpost in Chapa Dara district, Kunar province, Afghanistan. At least one security member and 14 assailants were killed and three security members and 23 assailants were injured in the ensuing clash. In addition, a number of buildings were set on fire. This was one of two attacks in the district on the same day. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack. For example, in a typical successful bombing, the bomb detonates and destroys property and/or kills individuals, whereas an unsuccessful bombing is one in which the bomb is discovered and defused or detonates early and kills the perpetrators.
