07/13/2015: Assailants abducted three freelance journalists from Spain in Maadi neighborhood, Aleppo city, Aleppo governorate, Syria. One hostage was released on an unspecified date and the remaining three hostages were released on May 7, 2016. No group claimed responsibility; however, sources attributed the attack to Al-Nusrah Front and suspected that the Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (ISIL) was also involved.
