12/25/2014: Assailants attacked an African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) camp in Mogadishu city, Banaadir region, Somalia. At least fourteen people, including soldiers, assailants, and a civilian contractor from the United States (US), were killed in the ensuing clash. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the incident, stating that it was revenge for a US airstrike that killed the group's leader.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
