10/16/2014: Five mortar shells struck a residential area in Shuala neighborhood, Baghdad city, Baghdad governorate, Iraq. At least five people were killed and 18 people were injured in the attack. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
