Incident Summary:

09/13/2014: Assailants opened fire on the vehicle of Mohamed Qanuni in Mogadishu city, Banaadir region, Somalia. Qanuni, the Counterterrorism Unit Deputy Commander of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA), was killed in the attack. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the attack was carried out in retaliation to the death of the former leader of Al-Shabaab, Ahmed Godane, in a United States airstrike.
