09/05/2014: Assailants kidnapped Colonel Qasim Muhammad al-Juhayshi in Nineveh governorate, Iraq. Juhayshi, a police commander, was killed on September 8, 2014. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).
