Incident Summary:

08/05/2014: Assailants opened fire on a police security checkpoint in El Dabaa area, Matruh governorate, Egypt. The checkpoint was guarding a tourist compound. Four assailants were killed when police officers returned fire. This was one of two related attacks against police security checkpoints in the area carried out by the same assailants on August 5, 2014. The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the incident.
