Incident Summary:
07/28/2014: Assailants opened fire on an Israel Defense Forces (IDF) checkpoint in Nahal Oz area, Southern district, Israel. In addition to one assailant, five soldiers were killed in the attack. Hamas (Islamic Resistance Movement) claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that the attack was carried out in retaliation to the recent Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip.

Criteria 1

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
