Incident Summary:

06/07/2014: Assailants stormed the Al Anbar University and took at least 24 students hostage in Ramadi city, Al Anbar governorate, Iraq. During the hostage-taking, at least two people were killed and a bridge was blown up. Most of the hostages were released later the same day; however, 15 university staff members were reported missing following the attack and the outcome of their kidnapping is unknown. Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility for the incident.
