Incident Summary:

05/16/2014: An explosive device, targeting police officers, detonated in Islam Qala town, Herat province, Afghanistan. One police officer was killed and four others were wounded in the blast. This was one of two coordinated attacks carried out by the Taliban in Islam Qala town on May 16, 2014. This second blast occurred as first responders were arriving to the scene of the first attack. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident.
