05/16/2014: An explosive device detonated near a mosque in Islam Qala town, Herat province, Afghanistan. There were no reported casualties in the blast. This was one of two coordinated attacks carried out by the Taliban in Islam Qala town on May 16, 2014. This first blast was designed to draw first responders to the scene. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident.
