Incident Summary:
04/04/2014: Assailants fired mortar rounds at a military barracks in Al-Hamiyah area, Al-Musayyib city, Babil governorate, Iraq. At least two soldiers were killed and nine soldiers were injured in the attack. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
