Incident Summary:
03/17/2014: Assailants attacked the vehicle of Colonel Jama Afgadud in Laag area, Bari region, Somalia. Afgadud, the head of the Puntland Security Forces (PSF), was killed and three soldiers were wounded in the attack. Ali Mahmud Rage, a spokesperson for Al-Shabaab, claimed responsibility for the incident and stated that Colonel Jama Afgadud was targeted due to his role in combating terrorism.

Criteria 1

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
