Incident Summary:

02/17/2014: Assailants attempted to detonate an explosive device at a joint Philippine National Police (PNP) and Philippine Army (PA) checkpoint in Carmen town, North Cotabato province, Philippines. After the explosives failed to detonate, authorities opened fire, killing at least one assailant. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, sources attributed the attack to the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Movement (BIFM).
