Incident Summary:
12/18/2013: Three suicide bombers detonated an explosives-laden vehicle near North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) fuel trucks in Torkham area, Nangarhar province, Afghanistan. After the blast, gunmen stormed the nearby building and opened fire on Afghan Border Police (ABP). Three assailants were killed in addition to one Afghan officer. Additionally, two other people were injured. The Taliban claimed responsibility for the incident.

Criteria 1

Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack. Success is not judged in terms of the larger goals of the perpetrators. For example, a bomb that exploded in a building would be counted as a success even if it did not, for example, succeed in bringing the building down or inducing government repression.
