Incident Summary:

08/28/2013: An explosive device detonated near an Iraqi Army patrol in Maidan town, Diyala governorate, Iraq. At least four soldiers were killed and three others were wounded in the blast. This was one of 18 coordinated bombings in Baghdad on the same day. Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) claimed responsibility, stating that the incidents were in retaliation for the execution of Sunni prisoners on August 19, 2013.
