Incident Summary:

02/17/2013: An explosive device was discovered and defused outside of the Diana supermarket in Muang district, Pattani province, Thailand. This was one of eight attacks in Pattani province on the same day. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however authorities blamed the attempted attack on southern separatists, stating that it was likely an act of retaliation for the deaths of 16 separatists in an attack on a navy base on February 13, 2013.
