Incident Summary:

01/23/2013: Gunmen opened fire on a patrol of soldiers who were in the area to investigate claims that the New People's Army (NPA) was demanding extortion in T. Elizaga town, Cagayan province, Philippines. Four soldiers were injured in the attack as were an unknown number of attackers. No group claimed responsibility for the incident; however, soldiers attributed the attack to the NPA.
