Incident Summary:

12/31/2012: An explosive device detonated near the Imam al-khudur Shrine mosque in Khalis town, Diyala governorate, Iraq. Two Shia pilgrims were killed and 16 others were injured in the blast. This was one of 19 coordinated attacks across the country on the same day. Al-Qaida in Iraq claimed responsibility for the incidents.
