Incident Summary:

12/31/2012: An explosive device detonated as police officers were attempting to defuse it in Kirkuk city, Kirkuk, Iraq. Five police officers were killed and another six officers were injured in the blast. This was one of 19 coordinated attacks across the country on the same day. Al-Qaida in Iraq claimed responsibility for the incidents.
