12/31/2012: An explosives-laden vehicle detonated near a mosque in Hilla city, Babil governorate, Iraq. One Shia pilgrim was killed and three others were injured in the blast. This was one of 19 coordinated attacks across Iraq and one of two attacks in Hilla city on this day. Al-Qaida in Iraq claimed responsibility for the incident.
