11/13/2012: A car bomb detonated outside of a church in al-Thakana district, Raqqah, Syria. Two people were killed and one person was injured in the blast and several buildings were damaged. It is believed that the intended target was Hassan Saleh Jalali, the governor of Raqqah.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
