09/09/2012: An explosives-laden vehicle near the French consulate in Nasiriyah city, Dhi Qar governorate, Iraq. One person was killed and one injured in the blast. This was one of 36 attacks around Iraq on September 9, 2012. Al-Qa'ida in Iraq claimed responsibility for the incidents, claiming that they were revenge for the "campaign of extermination and torture of Sunni Muslim detainees in Safavid prisons."
