08/01/2012: An explosive device detonated near the convoy of Shah Khan, the police chief of Shamazai district in Zabul province, in Helmand province, Afghanistan. Khan and his two bodyguards were killed in the blast. No group claimed responsibility for the attack; however, authorities attributed it to the Taliban.
