Incident Summary:

06/19/2012: An assailant took four people hostage at a French bank in Toulouse, Midi-Pyrenees, France. Two of the hostages were released by the assailant while the other two were rescued after approximately seven hours. The assailant asserted that he had connections to Al-Qaida and demanded to speak to the French police unit that killed Mohamed Merah, a French Algerian who was shot during a standoff with police after killing seven people in a series of attacks throughout southern France in March of the same year.
