Incident Summary:

06/16/2012: A suicide bomber attempted to drive an explosives-laden vehicle into an African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) military base in Afgoye, Lower Shebelle, Somalia. Security stopped the assailant before he could access the base, causing him to detonate. In addition to the bomber, two people were killed and three injured; the casualties included military troops and civilians. Al-Shabaab claimed responsibility for the incident, stating that AMISOM troops were enemies of Allah and Islamic Sharia.
