06/13/2012: Assailants kidnapped Victor Manuel Baez Chino outside of his workplace in Xalapa city, Veracruz state, Mexico. Baez Chino, a journalist with Milenio Newspaper, was discovered dead the next day. The Zetas claimed responsibility for the incident, stating that the journalist had betrayed the group.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack.
