Incident Summary:

06/05/2012: An explosive device detonated outside of the main gate to the United States (US) consulate in Western Fwayhat district, Benghazi city, Libya. There were no reported casualties resulting from the blast; however, the gate was damaged. Brigades of Imprisoned Sheikh Omar Abdel-Rahman claimed responsibility, stating that the bombing was in retaliation for the death of Abu Yahya al-Libi in a drone strike in Pakistan. In addition, they claimed to be protesting the presence of US drones in Libya.
