Incident Summary:

01/29/2012: Assailants attacked 47 Chinese construction workers in South Kordofan, Sudan. Seventeen workers escaped, one was shot and killed, and 29 were kidnapped in the attack. The group's president, Malik Agar, met with the Chinese ambassador to Ethiopia, demanding extra Red Cross humanitarian aid in the country. The hostages were released on February 7, 2012. No group claimed responsibility, but sources attributed the incident to members of the Sudan People's Liberation Movement: North.
