Incident Summary:

08/19/2011: On Friday, in the Karte Parwan area of Kabul city, Kabul province, Afghanistan, on Afghanistan’s Independence Day, the British Council building was attacked by four suicide vehicle-borne improvised devices. The attack resulted in the deaths of nine Afghan police officers and one member of New Zealand's Special Forces. The attack caused an unknown amount of property damage and Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid claimed responsibility for the attack by telephone from an undisclosed location. Mujahid said the attack was carried out to mark their Independence from Britain.
