Incident Summary:
06/12/2011: On Sunday, in Bara Kahu near the Malpur area outside of Islamabad city, in Islamabad Capital Territory, Pakistan, an improvised explosive device planted by unidentified militants detonated, injuring six people, including a father and his son riding a motorcycle and a man travelling in a car, and damaged several vehicles. Police said it could have been an old explosive device that was buried a long time ago. The specific motive for the attack is unknown; however, the blasts come as CIA chief Leon Panetta is in Pakistan to mend ties between Washington and Islamabad. Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.

Successful Attack
Success of a terrorist strike is defined according to the tangible effects of the attack. Success is not judged in terms of the larger goals of the perpetrators.
