Incident Summary:

10/07/2010: On Thursday evening, in Al-Fashir, Shamal Darfur, Sudan, unidentified militants armed with one machine gun and one pistol entered a United Nations (UN) compound, tied up and beat five UN workers, and kidnapped three others including one Hungarian national in a stolen African Union – United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur vehicle. Two of the three hostages were able to escape, but one Hungarian UN worker is still being held hostage. No group has claimed responsibility for the attack and the status of the hostage is unknown.
