Incident Summary:
06/05/2010: On Saturday, in Mader, Bijapur, Chhattisgarh, India, around 50 Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) cadres carrying guns and wearing uniforms set fire to a rest house owned by the Indian Forest Department, destroying it but causing no casualties. The specific motive for the attack is unknown; however, the attack occurred during the first day of their Revolutionary week and also Maoist posters left at the site warned people to stay away from security forces. The Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist) claimed responsibility.

Criteria 1
The act must be aimed at attaining a political, economic, religious, or social goal. In terms of economic goals, the exclusive pursuit of profit does not satisfy this criterion. It must involve the pursuit of more profound, systemic economic change.
