Incident Summary:

05/10/2010: On Monday morning at about 1100, in As Suwayrah, Wasit, Iraq, assailants near-simultaneously detonated a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device and an improvised explosive device in a public market. The first bomb exploded at a crowded popular market close to a Shiite mosque in the town of Suwayra, followed by a powerful explosion of a booby- trapped car which took place when Iraqi security forces and civilians were gathering at the scene of the first blast. Killing eight, and wounding 40 civilians, and damaging the market. No group claimed responsibility, although it was widely believed the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI) was responsible.
