Incident Summary:

03/26/2010: On Friday evening at about 1800, in Al Khalis, Diyala, Iraq, a suicide bomber detonated the improvised explosive device he was wearing and a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device exploded near-simultaneously in a public market as crowds were gathering for the announcement of final parliamentary election results. 56 civilians and three children were killed. 70 civilians and three children were wounded. 15 shops, three vehicles and one residential building were damaged. No group claimed responsibility, although the Diyala Police Department believed the Islamic State of Iraq was responsible.
