Incident Summary:

03/23/2010: On Tuesday afternoon at about 0130, near Sundargarh, Orissa, India, a landmine exploded on a section of railway tracks between the Bishra and Bandhamunda stations. The tracks and three sections of the Manoharpur-bound train were damaged. No casualties reported. The attack disrupted train services at different stations and three express trains were cancelled. The specific motive of the attack is unknown; however, the Maoists have called the protest in Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh and three districts of Maharashtra - Bhandara, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli - to oppose a sweeping crackdown on them. No group claimed responsibility, although it was widely believed a Communist Party of India-Maoist faction was responsible.
