Incident Summary:

09/24/2009: On Thursday morning, in Farah, Afghanistan, assailants detonated an improvised explosive device targeting the vehicle of the National Directorate for Security (NDS) provincial chief, Abdol Samad Khan, wounding three security guards, the NDS province chief, and three civilians, and damaging the vehicle. Anti-government elements planted a mine under a mini bridge in the Merman Nazo area of Farah Province. No group claimed responsibility, although it was widely believed the Taliban was responsible.
