08/20/2009: On Thursday, in Pol-e 'Alam, Lowgar, Afghanistan, an improvised explosive device exploded when it was struck by a vehicle, killing one tribal leader and his civilian companion and damaging the vehicle. The tribal elder was targeted in an assassination. The Taliban claimed responsibility.
