Incident Summary:

07/09/2009: On Thursday morning after 1100, in Igbaras, Iloilo, Philippines, armed assailants hijacked a cigarette delivery van and kidnapped its driver, Ranie Bayatan. The assailants drove the vehicle to Alameda village, released the driver unharmed, stole cigarettes and money from the van, then detonated an improvised explosive device near the van, damaging the van. The New People's Army/Communist Party of Philippines (NPA-CPP) claimed responsibility.
