Incident Summary:

04/06/2009: On Monday, two car bombs in the same market killed 12 people and wounded five in southern Baghdad's Um al-Maalif. It should also be noted that this was one of several attacks that took place in Baghdad on 04/06/2009, and there was an assortment of speculation in regards to who may be responsible. Among those named in the speculation were Al Qaeda in Iraq and members of the Sunni Awakening Councils. No one claimed responsibility for the attack. The U.S. military later asserted that the attacks appeared to be coordinated by Al Qaeda.
