8/14/2008: Members of Al-Qa ida in the Lands of the Islamic Maghreb (AQLIM) remotely detonated a bomb on a road near Chekfa, Algeria, targeting a vehicle carrying Colonel Abdelkader Yamani, the commander of Jijel's operational sector. Yamani, the driver, and a military officer died in the blast. Their vehicle was damaged as well.
