06/08/2008: On Sunday, authorities safely defused a bomb found on a power pylon in Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat province, Philippines. Authorities believe the communist insurgent New People's Army (NPA) was responsible for the attempted bombing and was carrying out the attack to force the power company to pay their extortion demands. No casualties were reported and no claim of responsibility was made for the incident.
