Incident Summary:

11/08/2007: Four armed gunmen broke into the eastern section of a nuclear power plant in Pelindaba, where they shot one plant employee. There were reports that there was a second group of gunmen who breached the western section of the plant, but were frightened away by security guards. Highly enriched uranium - from South Africa's dismantled nuclear arsenal - is kept at the facility.
