09/27/2007: Saipem Nigeria Limited, an Italian oil firm, was attacked by militants, resulting in the death of one expatriate and the kidnapping of another in the Niger Delta region in South-Eastern Nigeria. The attack, carried out by twenty gunmen, occurred just after a ceasefire was ended between the Nigerian government and the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND).
