04/01/2007: A politician was shot dead and his security guard seriously injured in an attack by suspected Muslim militants in India-administered Kashmir. Militants fired at Jan Mohammed Kakroo, a district leader of the ruling Congress party, when he was returning home after offering prayers at a shrine in the town of Baramulla, India. No group claimed responsibility for the attack.
