Incident Summary:

06/17/2004: Two car bombs killed at least 41 Iraqis and wounded nearly 150 in separate attacks against the country's nascent security forces. One car bomb exploded near the town of Balad, north of the Iraqi capital, killing six members of the Iraqi Civil Defense Corps and wounding four. The perpetrators were unknown.
