Incident Summary:

3/10/2004: Unknown perpetrators, believed to be affiliated with the Islamic insurgency in Algeria, assassinated Abu-Hafs al-Jaza'iri in Algiers, Algeria. Abu-Hafs was an Imam who called on extremists to give up their arms. Additionally, the Imam also acted as a mediator between the Salafist Group for Preaching and Fighting (GSPC) and Algerian security forces.
