Incident Summary:

01/15/2004: Members of the rebel groups Hizb-ul-Mujahidin (HM) and Al-Mansoorian claimed joint responsibility for detonating a car bomb in the Hyderpora suburb of Srinagar, India. Seven Indian soldiers, part of a military convoy that was passing by when the explosion occurred, were injured in the attack. The blast occurred as leaders of the Hurriyat Conference, an umbrella organization of Kashmiri separatist groups were meeting to decide on who would a attend first-ever talks on the future of Kashmir with the Indian government the following week.
