Incident Summary:

12/15/2003: Forty-two Chechen rebels loyal to warlord Ruslan Gelayev, entered Shauri village, killing nine border guards, and taking hostage four villagers from a local hospital. The attackers then fled to a neighboring village where they released the hostages during the next morning on December 16, 2003.
