Incident Summary:

9/30/2003: Suspected members of the Armed Islamic Group (GIA) ambushed a military convoy passing through Mongorno, Algeria. The assailants detonated a bomb before firing their machine guns at the soldiers. Eight soldiers were killed and three others were injured. The Islamic extremists also stole the victims' weapons.
